Engaging Spiritual Warfare pt. 4

Scriptures: Psalm 18:37; Romans 12:12; Hebrews 6:11

“Persistence to Never give up”

Persistence is described as the ability to go on resolutely, in spite of oppression. When engaging in spiritual warfare, we have discussed having the ability to endure, having a hatred & knowledge pertaining to things of the devil. But, like in any other form of warfare, the constant pursuit of obtaining victory will cause one to become weary. So, in order to triumph over our enemies, we must have a persistent mentality!

In the beginning text, David is acknowledging God giving him the victory over his enemies. While looking over the history of David’s victories, one thing is for certain, he had to be persistent in battle. This is evident later on in the text when David says that he did not turn back until they were all destroyed. In Spiritual Warfare, there must be a desire to see every wicked principality and enemy destroyed. In the sport Boxing and UFC; the two competitors face off with only one person eligible to gain the win. The winner is often times the one who continues to remain persistent in the fight, even after getting hit themselves, they keep fighting, even as they become tired, they keep fighting, they may even get knocked down, they get back up again and continue to fight! That very tenacity must reside within us; to rise back up in the fight and continue to pursue our enemy until victory is gained.

Persistency in Prayer

2 Corinthians 10:4 let us know that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds. Our warfare is not fought with the likes of guns or fist, but our warfare is spiritual and must be fought in prayer. In this season of spiritual warfare, let’s be devoted to prayer, pursuing our enemies with the that same persistence that David had in pursuing his!
